People who've known me for any length of time ask me why I write under a pen name. While I don't have a problem with my actual surname, the pronunciation throws a lot of people. It doesn't really bother me, but I figured, why not make it easy and write under a family name that still connects me to my roots, but that people can actually remember? 

 

I've always loved exploring the dark and thrilling aspects of the human condition. Having grown up in South Louisiana, the spooky stories of swamp creatures and the decadence of the Crescent City, New Orleans, Louisiana, have been a huge inspiration. My early work was focused primarily on the Horror and Action Adventure genres. The Swamp Gothic anthology features short stories including ghosts, demons and legendary swamp creatures. My action adventure novels, co-written with Roy McArdle, include gripping military operations, spy-craft and tales of complex individuals engaged in combat with both real enemies and their own personal demons.

 

While I will continue to work in those areas, I've recently made a choice to pivot to adult fantasy/romance to fulfill a desire that has always burned within me to show off my romantic side. Watch for upcoming work under the E.M. Pickering banner.
